Xiaomi Delays Launch of Mi Watch Premium Edition for Next Year

Xiaomi has officially announced that it has postponed the launch of the Mi Watch Premium Edition until early next year. According to the Chinese company, the decision is aimed at “ensuring a better user experience and more adequate inventory” to demand.


Update arrives on December 3rd with iOS app

In November of this year, Xiaomi officially launched the standard edition of Mi Watch, with the promise of Premium Edition still in December 2019. According to a statement posted on Weibo, however, the Chinese giant announced the postponement of the launch to February. 2020 and apologized to their customers.

“We would like to sincerely apologize. To ensure a better user experience and better inventory, the Xiaomi Watch Premium Edition originally scheduled for release in late December will be postponed to February 2020. It will be released simultaneously on official channels such as Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Youpin. and Xiaomi Tmall. We look forward to meeting everyone's expectations and giving all Xiaomi watches fans a better experience. We sincerely apologize again for the postponement. The exclusive version has the same technical specifications as the standard Mi Watch, such as 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and WearOS-based operating system. The difference is in the physical construction of the device: Premium Edition has a sapphire crystal display and its structure is made of stainless steel.

The standard edition of Mi Watch goes on sale in the Chinese market for 1,299 yuan (approximately $ 186, or $ 750 direct conversion to our currency). The Premium Edition, however, will be priced at 1,999 yuan (~ $ 286 / $ 1155).

There is still no information about availability in markets in other countries, such as Brazil.
