The 2020 dream car in the U.S. is not a Tesla, but the Ford Bronco

The car most desired by residents of the United States in 2020 is the Ford Bronco, a traditional American pickup truck, which will be produced again this year with a new generation. This is surprising especially when considering Tesla's growth in recent years and all the desire that was generated by Cybertruck in consumers last year.

The study was conducted by Partcatalog, which analyzed data from Google Trends between January 1st and February 1st. The second most sought-after car was the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C8), a 6.2-liter, 501-horsepower sports car that was announced at Kennedy Space Center during the Apollo 11 mission's 50th anniversary celebration.

Third place went to Land Rover Defender 2020 (L663 / L851), a British four-wheel drive SUV that was announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2019, but has yet to hit the market.

The first electric vehicle on the list appears only in fourth place, in the position occupied by the Porsche Taycan. Initially presented as the Mission E concept car at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, its form of production was revealed at last year's Salon.

Tesla will only appear in fifth place on the list, through the Model Y listing. It is a utility crossover (CUV) that was revealed in March 2019 and is based on the Model 3 platform. It will have a standard version with 370km of autonomy, while a long distance option will have 507km and four-wheel drive.

The most expensive models of the new Tesla vehicle will be available to the public from March 2020, with prices of US $ 52,000 (R $ 226,000 in direct conversion) for the AWD model and US $ 61,000 (R $ 265,000) for the Performance version . The cheapest models, including a $ 39,000 RWD version will arrive in early 2021.

The other vehicles that make up the Partcatalog list are the Rivian R1T electric pickup and the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric crossover. The firm responsible for the survey also released the list of U.S. states that searched most for each vehicle.

Ford Bronco led in 19 states, while the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was the most sought after in 13 states. Land Rover Defender was the most sought after in six states, the Porsche Taycan was the leader in five and the Tesla Model Y is the most desired in three states. Both the Rivian R1T and the Ford Mustang Mach-E were the most sought after in two states each.
