During a recent interview, Kenji Tanaka of Sony confirmed that a new desktop application will be launched in July to allow the Sony ZV-1 compact camera to be used as a USB webcam. It is not necessary to use a capture device with an HDMI interface.
New compact camera aimed at vloggers will be available from June 11
The company executive did not mention further details, such as the supported operating systems, nor did he provide a specific date for the availability of this application: “The market for content creators is expanding rapidly, and the ZV-1 was built with purpose to meet to the needs of video creators at all skill levels. With the impact of COVID-19, many people want to record their experiences with video. The demand for this type of product is increasing, and with the ZV-1 we had the opportunity to meet this need. Many people will also be able to enjoy the ZV-1 as a webcam when connecting it to a PC via USB. We will make a new desktop application available in July to enable this ”.
Announced in May, the camera has been available since June in the United States for $ 799. In Brazil, the company’s website says the camera will be available “soon” and does not yet mention its price.
