Qualcomm introduced its new Snapdragon 865 mobile platform during its annual Snapdragon Summit event and talked a bit more about its Adreno 650 GPU.
The company's new premium SoC features the world's most advanced 5G platform.
According to the company, the Adreno 650 GPU used by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 offers 25% faster graphics rendering compared to the previous generation GPU and is also 35% more energy efficient. Because of this, Qualcomm claims that the new GPU is the "most efficient graphics core in the world".
Qualcomm noted that the new Snapdragon 865 and Adreno 650 GPU offer sustained performance, rather than just increasing benchmark scores and losing power over time as speeds drop to maintain heat and power consumption. low.
The company says it not only wants to make a better chip, it wants to be the definitive leader in its field. This magnifies that the new GPU can bring games running on the Snapdragon 865 platform to "desktop" performance – but desktop graphics cards like NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon products have big coolers and much larger TDPs.
This means Qualcomm needs to make the efficiency upgrades needed on the Snapdragon 865 to address this, with the company pointing out that it has sustained performance – not just the raw speed, which decreases after benchmarks are run.
Players demand constant gameplay and Qualcomm is well aware that the Snapdragon 865 will deliver great performance “in both the cold Alaskan environment and the sunny beaches of Maui”. That is, performance should not decrease even in warmer environments.
