Days ago, information emerged that OnePlus will hold its own event during CES 2020 in January and that something known only as “OnePlus Concept One” will also be presented during this event. The Chinese company has not revealed what this "Concept One" would be, but now new rumors seem to indicate that it even feels like a new smartphone.
According to information from The Korea Herald, the consensus is that “OnePlus Concept One” will be the company's first folding smartphone. Another detail is that as it includes "Concept" name, this may be an indication that it will not hit the market anytime soon.
It has not yet been confirmed whether this "Concept One" will be a smartphone, a TV or something else.
Instead, it should be used during the OnePlus event to demonstrate the Chinese company's technological advances. Creating a folding screen isn't simple – just remember what happened to Galaxy Fold earlier this year. Because of this, OnePlus can spend more time developing its technology rather than running to launch the device soon.
We'll have to wait to see if the Concept One will be similar to other folding devices like the already mentioned Galaxy Fold, the new Motorola Razr and Huawei Mate X or if OnePlus will take a different approach.
In addition to having a folding screen, rumors say the supposed new OnePlus smartphone may have support for wireless charging with 40W charger or larger, wired charging using 100W charger, and under-screen camera.
OnePlus says the Concept One, which will be part of an entirely new series, will bring a faster, smoother, unlimited experience. It is likely to have a much higher refresh rate than the screens on your current smartphones. The biggest challenge for the company will be ensuring that there are no compromises in quality and that prices remain within a reasonable range.
If this folding smartphone really does exist, more information about it should begin to appear in the coming days.
