The body of Major General Qassem Soleimani, killed as a result of the US air raid, was brought to Iran on Sunday morning for the farewell and burial ceremony.
Second informs the ISNA agency, the body of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guard of Iran, was transferred from Iraq to Iran for the major general's funeral and burial, days after the air raid near Baghdad international airport.
"The body of martyr General Qassem Soleimani was brought to Iran," the agency said, noting that the plane landed at Ahvaz airport in the southwest of the country.
The farewell ceremony will take place on Sunday in the city of Ahvaz, then in Meshhad, Cuzistan. On Monday Tehran will also say goodbye to Soleimani and the major general will be buried Tuesday in Kerman.
On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Adie Abdul-Mahdi proclaimed three-day mourning in Iraq over the assassination of General Soleimani.
The airstrike against the general was carried out on the night of January 3 and was reportedly ordered by US President Donald Trump, who declared a few days after General Qassem Soleimani was preparing attacks on US diplomats and military personnel.
