Drone Doctor anuncia Thermal MK.III - Mavic 2 Zoom modificado com câmera thermal!

Drone Doctor has a good track record in drone repair in the UK, but is also famous for modifying DJI drones. Last year, the "guinea pig" was a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom that received a FLIR Boson thermal camera, and now we have a ship ready to be produced and purchased.

System aims to prevent accidents, a giant step for drone flight safety

Drone Doctor and Revolve Drones Managing Director Sheldon Holy announced the launch of the Revolve Thermal MK.III, thermal camera drone developed after "the disappointing performance of the Lepton thermal sensor on the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual (M2ED)".

DroneDJ mentions that, because of its features, the Revolve Thermal MK.III may be the best drone for first responders so far (considering competitors like the new Evo Autel 2 and Skydio 2). It has a Boson 320 thermal camera with standard 2x optical zoom from Mavic 2 Zoom. The thermal video feed is transmitted by Mavic systems, meaning no extra displays, batteries or other equipment is required. In addition, camera systems are controlled through a small module that plugs into the controller's USB port.

The Boson 320 sensor has a resolution of 320 × 240 – twice that of the sensor in the Mavic 2 Dual – and a narrower field of view (34 ° vs. 57 °). With this combo, it can detect a certain heat signature up to five times farther than M2ED.

"Our integration maintains the world-renowned portability and rapid deployment of the DJI Mavic platform, while providing a powerful array of sensors for human detection." – Press material.

However, the MK. III has no radiometric capacity.

The Revolve Thermal MK.III hits the market for £ 3900 / $ 5000 – slightly more expensive than a Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual, but is one third of a DJI Matrice 210 / XT2.

"As the first fully integrated drone with Flir Boson configurations and DJI Mavic 2 frame to market, Revolve Thermal MK.III aims to bridge the gap between low and high ends, bringing high quality thermal imaging to organizations. that could not pay before (…). " – Sheldon Holy.

Below are the specifications of the Thermal MK.III thermal camera:

  • Camera: Flir Boson 320 6.3mm Lens;
  • Sensor: uncooled VOx microbolometer;
  • Spectral range: longwave infrared; 7.5 µm – 13.5 µm;
  • Distance between pixels: 12 µm;
  • Thermal sensitivity: <60mK;
  • Resolution: 320 × 256;
  • Lens: 6.3mm;
  • HFOV: 34 °;
  • Color palettes: Ironbow, Rainbow, Rainbow HC, FireGrade, White Hot, Black Hot;
  • Gain Settings: High, Medium, and Low.
