Several countries in Latin America and North Africa have sent orders to Russia for mobile hospitals to fight the new coronavirus pandemic, Proekt Technika Corporation, which develops the systems, told Sputnik.

"In connection with the global coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19), the number of infected countries is increasing. Proekt Technika receives daily requests from countries in Latin America, CIS (community of independent states) and North Africa for the manufacture of mobile infection units ", he highlighted.

The company pointed out that these are the unified blocks that have all the functions of a modern medical institution and are designed to provide medical assistance in the area where the infection has spread.

The basic blocks allow up to 300 people to be served and about 30 patients to be hospitalized for a period of one month, although it is possible to increase the capacity of the facilities, the number of beds and the doctors' offices.

The World Health Organization (WHO), on March 11, declared the outbreak of COVID-19 as a pandemic. According to the latest WHO data, more than 418,000 cases have been confirmed worldwide, and more than 18,600 people have died. Another 107,000 people recovered from the disease.
