In the last decade, the expedition has found 11 graves of young armed warrior women. However, Gulyaev says this was the first time his team had found a tomb containing four Amazons of different age groups.
One of the women was between 20 and 25 years old, while another was between 12 and 13 years old, and her tombs contained over 30 iron arrowheads, an iron hook, horse harness, iron knives, fragments of vases. and various animal bones according to portal from the Institute of Archeology.
The discovery suggests that the warriors belong to the Scythian period of the nomadic and semi-nomadic Iranian tribes of Eastern Europe.
The first warrior discovered was between 40 and 50 years old and had been buried with a carved head covering with gold plates and floral ornaments, the kind found only in royal Scythian graves.
The Institute of Archeology regards the discovery as "unique" as the overwhelming majority of the Scythian tombs in the region have been completely stolen.
